In recognition of LGBTQ Pride Month, June’s Share the Plate recipient is the Delaware PRIDE Council, a United Way agency that organizes community resources to improve the lives of Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, and Questioning youth and adults in Delaware. PRIDE Council’s primary goals are to improve the school experience and education outcomes for LGBTQ youth and to increase the number of LGBTQ youth and adults who are healthy and avoid risky behaviors. The Council addresses these programs through supporting Gay-Stright Alliances (GSA’s) in schools, fostering mentoring programs, and hosting educational initiatives for school staff and behavioral health providers that serve youth and their families.
