The Newark branch of the NAACP and the city of Newark are hosting a celebration, reunion and history lesson all at one time at the George Wilson Center on New London Rd. on Saturday, August 31 from 1 to 6 PM.
The George Wilson Center was one of the original Dupont schools for African-American children, built in 1922, and an important gathering place for the African American community, locally called School Hill.
The UUFN Social Justice Committee is supporting this event by hosting a children’s table with activities. We are looking for volunteers to help with set up and clean up.
To be part of this special event, and to support the Newark NAACP, email socialjustice@UUFN.org or contact Karen Barker.
