The Spirituality of Advocacy

We Unitarians and Universalists speak often of social justice and organizing for social action. We seek to affirm and promote justice, equity, and compassion. We would like to help create a fairer and kinder world. Why? Because it seems only “right”? Is it an obligation and responsibility, or is there a deeper motivation? Perhaps there is a spiritual aspect to advocacy, a spirituality which motivates, comforts, and heals not only others but ourselves as well?
